Yes.
Google products do not run well on any OS X version.
Read Use Activity Monitor on your Mac - Apple Support. It will identify Google Chrome as the resource hog that it is notorious for being.
Google products including Google Chrome will burden any Mac regardless of its age or configuration. Chrome's sole purpose for existing is to harvest your personal information so that Google can sell it, effectively hijacking the Mac your bought and paid for so that it functions as a personal information-harvesting and -uploading "bot" for Google's sole benefit. Read http://adwords.blogspot.com/2015/09/Google-brings-you-closer-to-your-customers.h tml to learn the extent to which they do that.
Google infests a Mac with a plethora of constantly running resource-intensive root level system modifications in the same manner as a "computer virus" would, if such a thing were to exist on a Mac, which it doesn't. Read Apps can affect Mac performance, battery runtime, temperature, and fan activity - Apple Support. Read http://betanews.com/2015/08/06/dump-google-chrome-to-extend-your-macbooks-batter y-life/ for one of many such reports regarding Google Chrome.
Google has yet to demonstrate the ability or apparent desire to write efficient OS X apps. If you are required to use Google products, expect a very limited useful economic life from your hardware investment. If you want to support Google's efforts to harvest your personal information buy a Chromebook instead.

Complete and Total nonsense.
It's very RAM intensive, possibly the most RAM intensive browser developed. It's also been identified as being problematic for some users here.
I went from Chrome to Safari which I swore I would never do and after adopting it in 10.11 I have slowly migrated out of chrome as it's too bulky and obtrusive for me.

Which browser hasn't been identified as problematic? Safari? Firefox? Opera?
FWIW, people should choose what works for them.

So you think, which tells us more about you than Chrome.
Chrome is awful, all the time, regardless of OS. it's Googles spyware.
Is that how you think you can win an argument? By trying to be insulting?
I've owned Macs since 1985. I also owned a Mac-centric Computer Graphics company for 20 years before I retired early. I know just a little about Macs.
There are too many people that think they know something on these forums.
Please post the output of Etrecheck, and somebody here can then have a look at what's installed. Whatever you're alluding to here involving the Google software might be related to the Google software itself, might be the local system configuration or some other local configuration issue or maybe even a hardware error, or it might be something else installed on this OS X system.
MrHoffman wrote:

That's a good idea.
Speaking of Etrecheck, a Level 8 user tried to convince me if you have ANY Google product installed at all it will leave processes running even if no Google applications were open and he or someone else would help me remove them. So I did.
Guess what? There were none.
I can only report my personal experience and those of the users I support in a corporate office. Chrome has steadily been identified as a problem with my users needs and having them go to Safari has proved to remedy this, and they are all on production systems with i7's or dual xeon's and adequate amounts of RAM and all the systems are very clean because I can't afford a hiccup in the production pipeline. You've yet to offer anything other than a reaction. I have as much time in the business as you but I'm not retired, I'm still exposed to all this software for a multitude of users with very different approaches to using software, these are my findings and apparently I'm not the only one.

What I can say is, anecdotal evidence is close to meaningless.
What I can also say is, based on anecdotal evidence OSX 10.11.x is a problem for many, many users. Does that make OSX 10.11.x a bad OS? Of course not.
Firefox is actually my browser of choice simply because of the plethora of extensions. Does that mean I think Firefox is the best browser? Of course not.

Well, it runs well in the sense that it won't cause your computer to explode, but if you don't want to use Safari for whatever reason, I certainly wouldn't recommend it. It uses up way too much RAM. Like, gigabytes of RAM. If you're looking for a browser alternative to Safari, download Firefox. It doesn't use anywhere near as much memory, and it doesn't actively track you and every move you make on the Internet, even when you're not actually using the browser.
Google's business practices are extremely shady when it comes to that.

Here is the EtreCheck report I just posted the other day that I mentioned.
in response to Kurt Lang
Kurt Lang wrote:
Download and run EtreCheck. Post the results here. You'll see that among the running processes, some of them are still related to Google and Chrome. The results will also tell us (and you) which of these launch services are on the drive by name so you can remove them.
I see what you mean. Look at all the running Google and Chrome processes…

Not for nothing, but I hate stuff like this. I don't care how long you've been using Mac computers, I don't care if you personally were handed your first Mac by Steve Jobs himself. Are there people here who know more about computers, Apple computers specifically, than others? Absolutely. Do they brag or boast about it in an attempt to assert dominance in an argument? No. I guarantee right now you know more about computers than I do, seeing as I've only been an Apple user for five years. Does that mean my opinion on something is worth less than yours? No.
