Download icon missing from Safari toolbar?

Download icon missing from Safari toolbar?

I am unable to download files from Agile (a PLM software). It's almost as if Safari is blocking it from downloading because it thinks it's a pop-up. However I believe it has something to do with the fact that the download icon is missing from my browser's toolbar. Even when I right click to customize my toolbar, there is no option of adding the download button. After successfully

Any thoughts/ideas on how to add the download button so I can continue troubleshooting this issue?

MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), Safari Version 9.0.3

MFR,

Go to Safari>Preferences...>General>Remove download list items:...and select "Manually."

The download icon will reappear and remain displayed the next time that you request a download.

I had the same problem. Was able to successfully download and install the 1Password update on my iMac using the Safari "Downloads" button. But couldn't get a usable download on my MacBook because there was no "Downloads" button in Safari there. The problem was solved for me, however, when I installed the button using by the solution offered by Ferd II.

MFR,

Try "Enable JavaScript" in Safari>Preferences...>Security:

Allow JavaScript, which websites use for buttons, forms, and other content. Some websites can’t work properly if you disable JavaScript.

This was also another thing I played around with. If JavaScript is disabled, I can't log into the site at all. Leaving it enabled gets me the symptoms I originally described.

More background... When I try downloading the same file from the same site in Chrome, a shield appears in the right of the URL bar, right next to the favorites star. When I click it, it gives me the option to load unsafe scripts. Once I do that, it fixes the issue.

How do I replicate this in Safari? Looking at how this was solved in Chrome, it seems like Safari is blocking scripts that it considers unsafe.

Unfortunately this requires a company log-on to access.

I did notice though that it is an HTTPS site. But when I apply the fix in Chrome that I mentioned eariler, this part of the URL is crossed out. Hope this helps...

I have, but no menu pops up. Same thing if I right click. Odd, I know. Perhaps it may be in part due to the Agile/Oracle host, but I don't run into this issue in other browsers. For example in Chrome, once I allow it to "download unsafe scripts", it works fine. In Opera, once I prevent it from blocking pop-ups, it works fine.

When I hover over the link in Safari, I do notice in the bottom left of my browser window, a message appears saying "javascript:noaction;". I know nothing about Java scripts, but perhaps this could be related to my issue?
