itunes files/folders appear on my desktop every time i open iTunes

i recently switched over to iMac from pc and transferred my iTunes from an external drive to my mac. Every time I open iTunes, all the iTunes files/folders appear on my desktop. I already have them all located in my user account, why do they copy each time?

Hello cktafamily,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

If I understand your post correctly, you are seeing iTunes Folders copy to your desktop whenever you open iTunes. To get started, please make sure that your iTunes Library location preference is set to a location other than your Desktop, such as your Music folder.

Locate and organize your iTunes media files

Take care.
