Bootcamp not booting after install rEFInd for dual boot

This is my 1st post on this site, hope I don't screw up.

I tried to install rEFInd boot manager and screwed up my Bootcamp so windows 8 will not boot. It does show up on boot holding the option key, but it does nothing but a black screen when selected. Same when selecting to boot from CD/DVD, black screen. I've read a few posts similar to this but he suggestions from "LonerT" did not fix my issue. I'm hoping LonerT or someone of his knowledge base is available to help me, I really don't want to reinstall window if it can be helped. :-)

Kodibuntu Partition is formatted NTFS, but is empty and can be deleted or formatted as needed.

You also have an MBR pointing to it.

So, that means it's a Bootable partition, right? So how do i get the Kodibuntu on it? Windows can see the disk and the contents, but the Mac can't see it and it won't boot the DVD from holding the 'C' key at startup.

I didn't see this, but I will give it a try tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out. Do you think I'd be better off doing the Mac version or the windows version?

Use the Manual method and the create a bootable USB using hdiutil.

Ok, I just wanted you to know that I was successful installing Kodibuntu using the instructions you provided. Getting the USB drive imaged was a little confusing, but I figured it out. I would now love to get the rEFInd foot manager to work, but with all the trouble I've experienced I'm a little gun-shy. I think what happened was somehow it was installed on the Bootcamp drive instead of the MAC drive, which prevented the rEFInd from booting and messed up the MBR on the Bootcamp drive. So, now that I know how to uninstall rEFInd, I think I will give it another shot, this time being certain it gets installed on the correct disk. :-)

I also wanted you to know that I tried to complete the survey request I received from Apple about my experience here, but the link is broken, I tried 2 different browsers on my phone, neither one would work.
