Repair cancelled, where's my iPod?

My iPod was one of the first generations that was recalled. I sent in my request for it to be replaced with the serial number, was sent a box to send my iPod back, which i did. Since then I had admittedly forgotten about it, however, upon checking my emails i found one saying the repair had been cancelled after i had sent my iPod back to them.

Now I am left with no iPod and no replacement on it's way, any idea as to why this has happened? And if i can get my iPod back? it was working fine so still used it occasionally.
