Question

can i change the passcode remotely when in lost mode?

my daughter's iphone was taken by a (so called) friend, when I put it in "lost mode" she is simply putting in the passcode and unlocking it, is there a way to remotely change the passcode so she can't use the phone?

Not if the phone already has a Lock Screen passcode on it. Do you know if the phone has been backed up recently? If it has, Erase it, and change the iCloud password. The "friend" will not be able to do anything with the phone in that condition.
