I have just replaced my internal HDD with a SSD but could not justify the expense of a large drive. I have succeeded in installing OS 10.11.3 on the new drive but there is insufficient capacity to bootcamp. I have used the HDD as an external and I can read all data and boot into OSX but not the bootcamp partition. Is there any way that I can boot into bootcamp please?

2. How large is your OS X installation on SSD?
3. How large is your Windows installation on the HDD?

OSX 340GB
W7 on HDD 500GB
For everyday use I am running Parallels but some of my simulations will not run on a VM hence my desire to use the external HDD.

One option you may want to consider is installing Windows on the internal SSD of about 40-50GB, and then using the external disk as your external NTFS drive with your applications. You are using the internal SSD to boot the Windows OS, but all you applications can be run from the external HDD.
