Numbers won't open

I was working on a business speadsheet and Numbers suddenly crashed. I clicked the 'reopen' button but it now refuses to open at all.

I've restarted the Mac and am currently operating in 'safe' mode, but it still won't open.

Any ideas? Is there a way to delete the app and download a new copy?

hold the shift key while launching Numbers to "tell" Numbers not top open files that were previously open. Then try to open your documents again.

Hi Wayne -

thanks for that - I can now open Numbers. But - when I try to reopen the spreadsheet (which is resident in icloud) then it crashes again.

Is there any way I can rescue the spreadsheet - it's six months business work and it's the only copy I have (I didn't think to back it up as it's in icloud and I thought it would be safe!!)

Thanks for the advice on Numbers, Wayne - I had the same problem with both Numbers and Pages - followed your tips and Numbers now seems to be working as before. However having tried the same things I still cannot use Pages!

I have dragged a pages file into iCloud and can open it there both on my iMac and iPad. I can open Pages from the launcher and create a new doc but cannot open any of the docs saved on my iMac - the menu bar greys out even though the app is still showing as open in the dock.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.
