Operating system upgrade compatible with current installed programs

I have a 2009 imac 8 running OS 10.6.8 with Creative Suites 4 installed. Would I be able to update to El Capitan and it still be compatible with my Creative Suites? And would I be able to upgrade my Yosemite to El Capitan on my laptop (2010 macbook pro) running the same programs?
