Imessaging

Is it possible that apple adds a switch on/off in sending imessage? It has always been my problem whenever sending imessages. I have read in forums that imessage automatically turns on if the person you talk to has his imessage turned on also. But I think that's not always the case. A few monents earlier, I was talking to my boyfriend. We were both connected to the internet and we also have our imessages set up and turned on but whenever I send him a message it automatically sends as a text message, the same thing happened to him. Took us some time to talk through imessaging. I hope this counts for the next update. 🙂

There have been no changes to iMessage, and there is no switch as you are referring to.

For iMessage to work, both the sender and the receiver have to have complied with these things, iMessage has to be activated, both need to have it activated, and both need an active data connection, either cellular or Wi-Fi. If something is wrong there, then iMessage will not work. If you did have an active internet connection, then go into Settings>Messages and check to make sure that iMessage is active. If it is, then check to see what is checked off for Send & Receive. You need to do this on both devices. I'm guessing here, but you are believing that the messages are going through as text because the text bubble is green?

I will say yes because it says, "Text message" on top of my message. And also, both devices me and my boyfriend use complied with imessaging requirements. I wish there is something like an option whether to send a message as imessage or text message, that will really make it easier.

If you go to Settings>Messages, as I indicated in my first post, is iMessage activated? You did not answer that question. There should be a reason if your messages between iOS devices are not going through as iMessages.

I realize it is probably turned on, but underneath the button it could also say, "Waiting for Activation". It would display that if it were not working correctly, which at this point yours is not. You can try to turn it off and Facetime as well. Then reset your phone, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and release. After the phone reboots, turn iMessage back on and see if it activates. You may need to do this on both devices.

Also, not all carriers support iMessage, does yours?
