Does Apple help with Icloud locked Ipads?

First off, i am disabled and wanted to get my kids something nice. I found a deal on OfferUp for 3 Ipad mini's and purchased them. They were all on the first setup screen as if they were new. I drove home excited and went to activate them and it is stuck on the activation screen. I have searched up and down trying to find a solution for this and have not found a thing. I feel very cheated and not only by the person who sold these to me but by Apple also. Their is thousands of people dealing with this from what i have read and it is wrong.

Right now i just want to know if Apple actually helps with getting these going again or not and yes, i have all the emails and screenshots to prove that i bought these from the guy on OfferUp. Thanks for the answers.

They will only potentially help if you were the original purchaser of the iPad and had proof of purchase (e.g. original receipt with their serial numbers on it) - they won't help with second hand devices, you will have to contact the person that you bought them from, only he/she can potentially remove them from their account (Turn off Find My iPhone Activation Lock - Apple Support).

Being taken by a shameless piece of trash criminal does suck. Especially when all you are trying to do is something nice for your kids. Unfortunately, you are at a dead-end, and the only thing you can really take away from this is that there are a lot of really low people out there who have no sense of morality.

I would suggest that you look into whether or not the site you purchased these from has any recourse for you at all.

I would also recommend that in future, you be very cautious about purchasing any intricate electronic device from anyone except someone you know to be reputable, or from a site that stands behind their sellers like Amazon or eBay. I would stay far, far, away from Craigslist as well as the site you got your devices from. Clearly they do not do very careful vetting of the people who they let sell there.

Really sorry about your experience. I hope that you might get at least some help from the site that sponsored the criminal who sold you these devices. Any chance you can stop the payment from going through? Just a thought.

Best of luck,

GB

Apple owes you nothing. You cannot prove that you lawfully own them because you cannot prove that the seller owned them or that tou are the original purchaser. Apple has no legal or moral obligation to fix the fact that you were cheated by someone else and that you did not make yourself aware of this well-known risk. No one can prove that they were not stolen even though not reported as such. The only ones with an obligation to you are the crook who cheated you or perhaps the website that facilitated it. Sorry, but those are the facts of your situation.

Can you provide a link to the Apple website you cited?

So why does Apple ask for the serial numbers/imei and confirms they are not stolen? They made a website to also confirm they ain't stolen also so with proper proof of purchase, it should not be an issue to unlock them and yes they can do something about it. The guy asked for the "original receipt and i would be able to unlock them remotlry for you"? All they care about is a new customer and not people who are out using their products currently. You are right that i should have set one up but i am newer to apple and i didnt know any of this crap. My wifes iphone was a store buy and our macbook was aquired through a trade. I never had to deal with any of this.

They should not have done that and then told you they were not stolen as that is not a true test of that status. The devices could have been stolen just prior to your buying them and no one had yet discovered they were missing. You can check with your local police and have them see if they are stolen but it really won't help you. They will confiscate them if they are stolen.

Price is relevant as it gives a clue as to whether they are stolen. If you paid $75 for 3 it is highly likely they are stolen.
