Magic Mouse doesn't scroll or swipe

Hi all, need your help.

I have a Macbook Pro (retina, late 2013) with Yosemite 10.10.5. I just got a Magic Mouse (A1296 3VDC) with new batteries. I paired it with no difficulty to my Mac. Standard functionality is perfect (moving cursor around, adjusting its speed, and standard single, double or triple click). However, , but no matter what I do, the advanced functionality doesn't work (scrolling, secondary button, zooming, swiping...).

I already checked System Preferences > Mouse and System Preferences > Accessibility, with no luck.

I also tried resetting SMC.

Any suggestion?

Clarifying: I just got the mouse, but it was lost in an empty office cube so it is not the new version 2...

I tried the PRAM reset as well. I also checked for interference, but the behavior is the same at home.

In the mean time I found a full load of users with the exact same issue:

magic mouse lost scrolling after OS update

Which leads me to believe that the magic mouse driver for Yosemite is kaput. 😟 I will wait until I get El Capitan.

Thanks, Seventy. Unfortunately, I cannot upgrade as El Capitan is not approved by my IT (they are still testing a couple of corporate applications which do not run well with it). Also, this is the original Magic Mouse, so theoretically it should work... 😟

You could also try to reset the PRAM. I mistook your reference to "just got a Magic Mouse". You are not alone where the company doesn't want you to upgrade ... but as you say, It should work. Have you another mouse or a trackpad switched on and in the vicinity, a telephone hub or new electronic equipment. You may have a problem with interference.

If you are still running Yosemite (as your profile suggests) then you must upgrade to 10.11.3 El Capitan. It is the required OS for using the new Magic Mouse 2.
