mac Mountain not working after installing linux

Hello everyone

i will try to explain as easy as i possible , and excuse my language 😀 .

the problem started when i installed Fedora 23 on my macbook pro 2012 HD , the total HD is 750 GB .

i used 120GB for fedora , after installing fedora with reFindit (dual boot) the mac os not working any more .

i checked the partition type and in gparted it's said (unkown system type) ???

i changed the system type by using gdisk to HFS and this is screenshot from gdisk it's said the system type is HFS already

, so to make sure i used testDisk also to check the system type and it's gives me Linux type !!!!!

i tired to recover some data from the partition by using photorec (attached with testDisk) and it's really gives some of my pic from the mac partition

so please help me to fix the problem and re-using the mac os without formating any data

If I were you, I'd connect your MacBook to another mac in target disk mode and see if the original "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" partition shows up. If you don't have another mac, try this guide on mounting mac-formatted drives in linux: https://fosswire.com/post/2007/09/dealing-with-mac-formatted-drives-on-linux/ .

If it does, copy your data off, and reinstall or do whatever you need to do to get the MacBook working again.

Otherwise, I don't really have any other advice to offer, and I'm not very confident that you'll get your data back without a fight...

EDIT: Have you tried holding down the option key when starting-up to opt booting into OS X instead?

1. Can you boot into Internet Recovery - OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support ? Please see the specific section about Internet Recovery and booting using Command+Opt+R.

2. If you can, then install OSX (the version that shipped with your Mac) - How to install OS X on an external drive connected to your Mac - Apple Support - and then upgrade it to match the current version that you expect on your internal disk.

3. rEFInd is causing you more problems than solving it.

4. Using Testdisk, changing partition type GUIDs does not work correctly, especially for HFS+/JHFS+.

5. If you were on Yosemite or higher, your OSX volume can be a CoreStorage volume, not just JHFS+.

6. If you Mac does not support Internet Recovery, use the Grey Disks to boot your Mac from.

yes i can connect to OS recover using R button when it's booting but why the benefit i get if i installed the OS X in external HD ?

i belive the MAC OS x partition is safe but when fedora installed it's delete something that's made whole problem

so is they are any way to fix the internal partiton to use it agin without formating or at lest go in to the partition to backup my data ?

Local Recovery will not allow you to install GPT Fdisk - https://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/ - even though you have Gdisk on the Linux side, it is v 1.0.0, while there is a v 1.0.1 on SourceForge.

Using an external disk, and using the newer version of Gdisk will allow us to inspect/correct/mount partitions, as we fix partition GUID types or any other issues. Does that help explain what we want to do?
