Nope? So, how the apple pencil just pair with the iPad Pro? Isn't by BLE 4.x???
wasn't apple who developed and released the iBeacon technology late in 2014???
SO if the iPad Pro could not reach out the pencil what should happens When it lost its signal???
nope the iPad Pro could not inform the quality of the pencil's battery life??? Suggesting to recharge???
nope??? If his information really proceed as true I will strong recommend not to buy the Apple Pencil because the programmed obsolescense would be crue in this nor for the desire to buy the revolutionary new iPencil neither for the -$$$ in cash wen you may lost yours old Apple Pencil or when sepending more to buy the novalty

I for what it's worth if your pencil hasn't been disconnected by turning Bluetooth off, you can at last figure out if it's in your general vicinity with the batteries widget.
I dropped mine in my car, but I didn't know that. I hope it was at least at home, so I opened the Notification Center! the widget wasn't there. But as I walked around and opened and closed the Notification Center it popped up. that made me look more carefully And I found it.
Ya know?
It is what is what it is!
There aren't any Bluetooth stylii that can be tracked.
Bluetooth Devices have a very limited signal range.
I don't know of any Bluetooth peripheral devces that have GPS trackers bulit into them.
If you purchase an expensive stylus and lose it or it gets stolen, it's gone. You're out of the device and money.
Put the device somewhere where it won't get lost or stolen.
Don't blame someone else, or the technology or lack thereof.
If you want to pay more more for a GPS trackable Bluetooth Apple Pencil, put in your feedback here.

Sorry but no. The pencil has no hardware at all to determine its position nor to transmit it anywhere if it could.
Same here. I have totally given up carrying car or house keys, loose change, credit cards, pens....
I do strong believe that the Bluetooth should work for proximity tasks like the iBeacon's but if it wasn't released just yet. It is because of the programmed obsolescence... Does the iPad Pro could inform the real status of the battery, that's righ? No?
Whilst there isn't a way to track the pencil, each one does have a unique serial number which is etched on the lightning connector, you need a loupe or magnifying glass to see it, or you can plug it into an ipad and then go to settings-general-about and at the bottom find pencil, which gives you all the details including serial number, model, firmware, etc..
I've now lost to Apple pencils. They can't be attached to anything and they can't be tracked. It doesn't make sense for me to keep buying them and loosing them. I'm going to have to step out of the Apple Pencil club.
There are third party Apple Pencil holders that attach to either the iPad or whatever protective covers you use for your iPad Pro.
If you would've done a vweb search for these for your second Applebpencil, I am sure you would have found something you could have kept your Apple Pencil with your iPad Pro.
There are holders available.
I Thought the pencil was gone gone, still may be, but yesterday got a warning on iPad that the pencil was down to 5%. I tried your technique, but a male end lighting connector isn't in my box. How did you do this?
It would seem that if you are out of bluetooth range the iPad would loose pairing so going to Settings > Bluetooth and doing a grid search around your house would eventually have the pencil and pad pair. At least then you know you are probably within 30ish feet. Of course there are a lot of scenarios where this feeble workaround would fail but it worked just a moment ago for me by "hiding" the pencil in a junk drawer.
Not any users using THAT approved app, either, and the only user who tried this expensive BT finder app reported that it is a poor functioning and/or poorly written app.
There is NO app or Bluetooth "tracker" app that can locate ANY Bluetooth stylii or other Bluetooth peripheral devices that connect to an iDevice without some sort of built-in GPS tracker chip/device in the BT stylii or peripheral device.
None.
My bad.
So far, no users of this app because version 1.0 JUST got released on July 21, 2017.
So, this app MAY, in fact, be very useful for Apple Pencil users.
I wonder if this would work for any other Bluetooth connected device OR other third party Bluetooth stylus, as well.
Good call!

Please look up the "large distance" which is the range that Bluetooth can reach. And, again, Bluetooth has no sense of location. Such apps are jokes (especially when advertised with pictures of maps covering hundreds of square miles).
As tonefox points out, the range of a BT signal is at best about 100 yards, under optimal conditions (no physical or electronic interference). So unless you’re standing pretty much right nearby the lost Pencil, it won’t even be detected.
