I am having an issue with some apps on my Apple TV (newest version) where my live streaming apps such as ABC and CNN do not play content in my time zone. I have used my local TV providers credentials (Xfinity/Comcast) but when I go to live TV I receive the San Franscico market and schedule. Has anyone run into this issue. I called my cable provider thinking it was an internet issue but they haven't a clue. Any thoughts

the schedule of shows when streaming is not the same as with cable. most don't even have a "schedule". Rather the movie/tv show is made available when the content owner decides to make it available On their servers. The "live" feed would be whichever market they decide to use - it could always be East or it could always be the West feed that they make available. you should send questions/feedback to the app developer (ABC, CNN)...
I haven't seen this problem before, so I'm wondering if it's worth throwing a few guesses around at this stage.
So I guess my question then why does the ABC and CNN Apps work in my region on my iPad and iPhone correctly with my local channel selection and local news provider?
Because the tvOS app is not the same as the iOS app. All the app developers had to recreate their app for the new OS. it could be a bug in their software developed for tvOS or it could be "working as designed". But the only ones who can confirm would be the content owners...
I did see this on the CBS page to verify if your location is available for local streaming. It could be that your area is not yet available so your getting the default Stream?

With ABC, take a look at this link and scroll down to the section on "live streaming". It does talk about the issue of the "live stream not matching local broadcast as well as varying by geographic location. All of the content owners will have their own limitations and functionality...
