Why does iTunes say my iPhone 6s needs to be updated to iOS 9.2.1

iTunes says my iPhone 6s needs to be updated to iOS 9.2.1 despite the fact that it is already on iOS 9.2.1. The phone's Software Update shows it up to date, yet iTunes seems to think it is not. What to do?

MacBook Air (13-inch, Early 2014), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1), 16 GB Ram; 480 GB SSD

I have the issue now with iOS 10.1.1. My iPhone 6 claims to be up-to-date on 10.1.1, but when plugged into iTunes, iTunes tells me there is a newer version 10.1.1.

Is this also due to slipstream update? Or is it some other problem that I'm experiencing?

Yes, it is a slipstream update from 10.1.1(14B100) to 10.1.1(14B150).

iTunes is asking you to update from 10.1.1(14B100) to 10.1.1(14B150). As this is an update that is out of the regular sequence it must be pretty important, or Apple would have waited for 10.1.2 or 10.2, whichever is the next version.

And no, there are no Apple technical people on this forum in an official capacity. This is a user-to-user technical support forum.

After I made the adjustments in windows10 program files and got the latest version of iTunes to recognize my Verizon iPhone6 plus; and Even though my phone also had 10.1.1 installed, iTunes required the update to 10.1.1. (Same version number but there may be a difference between Verizon or maybe it needs it for Windows. No idea obviously) So after letting iTunes download the update and install it on the phone it i was able to get all the functionality I wanted. It took over 2 hours because it was like a 24 gigabyte update. And my internet speed is only 20mbs.
