Experiencing ping spikes every 8-14 seconds
I run a MacBook Pro 13" Medio 2014, Recently I have been experiencing lag spikes on my wireless network, especially when playing games. I tried using the ping tool and got the following:

As you can see, every 8-12 seconds or so, the ping spikes. I also experience symmetric drops in bandwith when eg. updating a game in steam, I would imagine these are related.
I have tried using a different router at my workplace, but the problem persists; the ping spikes every 8-12 seconds. I have tried switching channels on my router at home to no avail, my ISP updated the router firmware, though with no effect on the ping spikes.
I've tried to find a solution online, but I haven't been able to find anything corresponding to this case. I have an idea that the spikes are perhaps caused by my macbook pro roaming for wireless signals, but the only solutions I have found regarding this problem pertain to PCs.
Perhaps this is caused by the January update to El Capitan?
Any help would be much appreciated
