Some of my UUS plugs in back of the computer seem to not be working is there a way to run a hardware test?
I have a keyboard and a printer plugged in and the keyboard does not work and the printer shows it is off line

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11)
My iMac is a mid 2010 unit and is running 10.11.3. If I am reading the information correctly I should hold down the d key while starting up my system. I tried that and it loaded everything as it normally does. Have I misunderstood something
Yes. Your machine no longer has the AHT installed nor do you have the original OS X disc that came with it originally. If you need to run the AHT then visit the fourth link posted above to see if you can download it. Otherwise, you will need to take it in for a checkup at the Apple store.
