I made changes to my iTunes library and lost a few files by mistake. How do I go back to an older version/replace the current one?

Nope. Not when I try to go to the file w/ iTunes. Once I try to select a folder, the option goes away. Again, I am on a MacBook Pro.
I don't know how I got there, but I got to a point where I could RESTORE iTunes from an early January saved file. But the missing files are still not there. More and more convinced it ain't me.
What did you restore? The iTunes Library.itl file or the whole folder? Could you see the lost files in the TM version of the folders?
