Whatsapp is causing storage problems ver.2.12.14, IOS 9.2.1

Today my storage suddendle went from 23 gb in use to 37 gb in use for no appearent reason, i came to the forums and found this thread:

storage issues iphone 6

Eventually a lot of people started to say it was whatsapp's fault, so after trying other stuff (back up, restore, back up again, clear space the regular way, etc.) i diceded to backup my chat history and erase whatsapp, and wouldnt you know? slowly those 14 gb of unaccounted used space came back, i dont know why this is happening, but is a big concern for me and im sure for a lot of other users too.

I reinstalled whatsapp and retrieved my chat history and so far everything seems fine, so if youre having trouble with it try doing that, i dont know if its a permanent fix but it will give you at least a chance to keep using your phone as normal.

So im posting this to raise awareness of the problem and hopefully somebody eventually communicates with either the whatsapp's developers or someone in apple finds out, i dont know who is at fault here, but we should cover as much as we can.

If you ran into this problem i hope my solution works for you:

-Back up whatsapp's chat history using whatsapp's backup function.

-Delete whatsapp.

-download it again and restore backup (it will ask you if you wish to do so once you open whatsapp fo the first time).

Thank you and here is hoping that they find a solution to the problem.
