New Magic Mouse 2 won't turn on to pair w laptop

Just bought a new Magic Mouse 2 and am trying to pair w laptop. Using the USB/Lightning cord that came w the mouse but when i plug it in the mouse will not turn on or be recognised by my laptop. Help!!

It is very difficult to answer questions if your don't provide the basic information. Please fill out your profile with details of your machine, its OS and so on.


Sheer guesswork but I think you have not fully upgraded your OS. You need to be running El Capitan 10.11.2 or higher to use the Magic Mouse 2. The public beta version is insufficient.

We have just come across the same problem in our small enterprise. A colleague bought a Magic Mouse 2 (MLA02ZA/A) and attempted to pair it via the lightning cable to our early 2009 iMac (OS X El Capitan 10.11.4). However nothing happens when we plug the cable into the iMac and turn the mouse on. I have also tried this on our other (newer) iMac but we are getting no response.


My only other idea is that the cable itself is faulty. I am going to try and find another cable around the office somewhere and see if it works.
