internal wifi works in safe mode but not in normal mode.

I have lots of trouble passing data on the net -- when restarted, wifi shows on but doesn't work and shortly shows off. Connecting to my phone via bluetooth seemed to work for a while but today though it shows connected no data passes even after two restarts. Starting in safe mode however shows wifi on and it's working! (that's how I'm connected right now). So there must be some software causing this problem -- but how do I figure out what it is? This has been going on for a long time -- well before upgrading to El Capitan.

Rapport is gone. I'll restart and see how things look in normal mode and get another screenshot of the network pane. I'll report as soon as that's done (which may require restarting again in safe mode).

OK. Here's a screenshot of the network pane immediately after restarting in normal mode. It appeared to be connected and working -- but it wouldn't pass data. After a couple of minutes the menubar icon changed to off and I couldn't turn it on again. Second screenshot is of this condition:

By the way, I just ran easyfind on "rapport" and it came up with a list of things longer than before I did the their un-install! Think I should delete them? They're all in "application support".

I think you need to do something about your faulty logic board. The safe mode/normal mode aspect is puzzling, but if you don't have a working LB, nothing else really matters.

I can't afford the time or the money to replace this thing now. The fact that it works in safe mode shows that the lb is functional doesn't it? It sure would help if there is a way to find out what safe mode disables.

Try safe mode if your Mac doesn't finish starting up - Apple Support

It's hard to understand how the lb can not be considered to be functional when everything works in safe mode. Is there some hardware disabled in safe mode?
