My MacBook Pro is running very slow

Hi Apple Support Experts,

My almost new MacBook, bought in november, suddenly started to work slower and lost the flow of the OSX. I have been using same MacBook with the best spec (16GB). I check all of the downloads I make, but there was one time when a friend installed me cracked versions of some programs, which I then uninistalled. The only thing is that I dont usually shut down my laptop, but put it to sleep, I dont know if its an issue.

Please if possible, advice me what to do, because I am desperate now to find out what is the problem, as this had never happened to me before, and I need my fast-running-amazing machine to run slick and smooth for work and commissions.

Also I run this command at the Terminal,

syslog -k Sender kernel -k Message CReq 'Channel t|GPU D|I/O|find tok|n Cause: -' | tail | open -ef

Feb 29 11:44:28 2014MacBookPro15 kernel[0] <Notice>: Process launchd [1] disabling system-wide I/O Throttling

--- last message repeated 3 times ---

Mar 6 15:08:53 new-host-12 kernel[0] <Notice>: Process launchd [1] disabling system-wide I/O Throttling

I ran EtreCheck

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Launch the Console application in any one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ In the Finder, select Go Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES All Messages

from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select

View Show Log List

from the menu bar at the top of the screen.

Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.

Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.

Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.

The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

When you post the log extract, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "The message contains invalid characters." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the text on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please don't select Private from the Paste Exposure menu on the page, because then no one but you will be able to see it.

Thank you for all the detailed steps. I don't want to post a million lines of useless logs

But I am not getting a "beachball".

The mouse cursor moves very slowly. When I type using my Built-In keyboard or Bluetooth keyboard, the text appears a few seconds later

I suspect it's the encryption on the drive.

I ran this command

This procedure will delete certain temporary and cache files. The files are automatically generated and don't contain any of your data. Occasionally they can become corrupt and cause problems such as yours.

Please back up all data and read this whole message before doing anything.

Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:

/var/folders/zz

Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select

Services Open

from the contextual menu.* A folder named "zz" should open. Inside it are several subfolders, each with long name beginning in "zyx". One of them has this name:

zyxvpxvq6csfxvn_n0000000000000

Note that the name ends in a series of zeros. Leave that one alone, and move all the other subfolders of "zz" to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.

*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select

Go Go to Folder...

from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You may not see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

I have no idea what those are or why Linc suggested you remove them.

I hope you have a backup. I would consider restoring from it.

Earlier i asked you some basic questions that you did not answer - *something changed* - what might it be.

Start with the basics before you go fooling around with stuff you dont understand ( and certainly i don't know what those are, not without doing a bunch of research).

Get your backup ready.

If you don't already have a current backup, please back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.

There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.

If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.

*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.11 ("El Capitan"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
