Safari not working after updating to El Capitan; no fixes work

I updated to El Capitan 10.11.3 today. Safari doesn't work (for my user only). It opens but won't load any websites. I have tried every single fix I could find by searching Apple Support and nothing works (emptying cache, deleting various library files, preferences, extensions, etc.) Safari does work when I log in as a guest user and when I do a clean reboot. I would really, really like to continue using Safari, but I'm about ready to uninstall El Capitan. I ran EtreCheck as advised in some posts on this topic and the report is below, if that helps.

I solved my own problem. It was a VPN I have installed, the settings of which changed so it started automatically. Apparently that fouled up the works. At least, it fixed my Safari problem. Will see if it helped with Mail and other things (which I didn't even get into here).

You likely will continue seeing problems until you remove CleanMyMac correctly.
