OS X Server DNS - Force Google Safesearch

Google says you can force safe search network-wide via option 3 of this article

I have tried to implement on my school's network using OS X Server as my DNS server.

- entered google.com as a zone

- pointed to safe search IP address

It works to force safe search on google.com, but basically breaks all other google domains - gmail.com, etc.

Also youtube menus don't load correctly.

Anyone know a way to make this work?

iPad Air, iOS 9.2, Server 5.0.15 El Capitan 10.11.1

It's trivial to bypass this Google "filter".

Set up a web proxy, and block all outbound HTTP and HTTPS traffic at the firewall except for that web traffic traversing the web proxy, and enforce the content filtering at the web proxy. Your students will still bypass that, of course.

But if somebody in your organization thinks this approach works — it won't, and the smarter kids will learn far more about the failings of the school administration here than the administration might realize or intend — then see these previous discussions:
