Mail shows paper clip but no attachment icons to open at all

Hello everyone. I'm having the hardest time finding what's going on and after a few tiring hours of surfing the web I found nothing like my problem. So I decided to come here for help. I hope it's not something stupid I'm just missing but if that's the case I apologiz in advance.

As you can see in the following picture I got an email with an attachment, as you can see the paper clip on the left

When I open said email I go to the bottom of it and find no file icons to open!

As you can see for the same email but using the Gmail app, there are four pdf files attached and, as far as I know, pdf is a compatible format to open from Mail native iPhone app

Can PLEASE someone help me see what I'm missing? I already tried signing out and in again, reloading all my emails but nothing different happened. I'm about to pull my hair out here!

It didn't work. I also checked on my iPad and it doesn't work either. But in my Macbook Air works fine. The account is from Google and I recently updated my password. Maybe it has something to do with that. I obviously updated the password in my iPhone and iPad and that's why I can see the new incoming emails but there's maybe a bug. I'm thinking of that because in my Macbook it didn't work updating the password in the dialog box from Mail app, Google sent me an email saying it was not a secure log in. Instead, I had to go to Sytem Preferences, delete the account and add it back.

I just started having the same issue with gmail on my iPhone 6. When I go to the gmail website using safari the attachments show up. But I see nothing (only the paperclip) when using the gmail account on my phone. This is annoying.

I am having the same problem. Just switched my office computers from PC's to Mac and when the Mac sends an attachment thru OUTLOOK for MAC they don't show up on any iphones. They show up everywhere else fine, just not on a phone. The other thing I find is that you can save them to the camera roll and view them, so the pictures are definitely there. It has nothing to do with the setting "load remote images". Has anyone figured this out? There has to be a solution! Is anyone else using OUTLOOK or this is even happening with apple MAIL app on a computer?

High Sierra and Mail app. Someone sent a Pages attachment for me to review and the attachment doesn't download nor can I drag it or save it.

I tried forwarding it to my Outlook Mail, and still couldn't see it?

The only app that shows attachments for me is the Gmail app. Ridiculous that Apple can't fix this after so long.....

But I know for sure there are four attachments as you can see in the Gmail app (also in any desktop client). Those attachment are the receipt and flight information for two passenger, none of their content is embedded

I still don't know what's going on but I discovered that older emails having attachments are shown regularly. I think it has something to do with changing my password. Every email received between the moment I changed my password in the servers of Google for Gmail and the moment I updated the password in my iPhone/iPad are not showing correctly any attachment. After that, any new email works just fine, the same with older emails. It's like for those email in between I'm screwed and they will never show the attachment.

i think you have hit the nail on the head. It seems related to sending mail with attachments via Outlook for Mac. I am experiencing the same thing. Now we have to see who is going to own up, Microsoft???

I have spoken to both applecare and microsoft and they both blame each other. microsoft told me if i wanted further help i would have to pay, even though it was 2 days after i bought the software and it didn't work from the get go. terrible customer service that they won't help with a known problem on newly purchased software.

I am having the same issue. The attachment icon appears in the mail but there is no attachment to download once I open the email. And my "load remote" images was on the entire time?

This is a really bad bug. I like using my "Mail" app because it's has all my email accounts in one place. But what's the point of having the "Mail" app take up storage on my phone if I just have to download the gmail app anyway.

Simeone needs to solve this please!

My best step is to take my phone in to the Apple Store, if that doesn't work I am never getting an iPhone again.
