Cannot PING some devices on a network

OK, so this is a strange one, and it's baffling me!

Have a small home network consisting of printers, Apple TVs and a few windows machines - the majority connected by WiFi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels.

I have a printer on IPv4 10.1.1.5, and the Mac keeps loosing connectivity to it, if I ping the device it gets no reply, yet from a windows device it works.

No firewalls or anything - but as soon as I reboot the Mac it works again.

Mac is running 10.11.3.

Anybody else seen this strange behavior?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

I have been through al of these steps, even though it is a bran new system.

No difference I'm afraid - yet it works well with Windows 10 installed - the errors disappear, I can ping all devices on the network and no disconnects.

Never thought I would ever be in a position to say that Windows is working better than Mac OS X, but today I find myself uncomfortably in that position.

This 100% is an apple issue, reading and searching round the internet reveals a myrid of complaints, similar to mine - guess I'll just have to get used to using a cable or now, or as I'm seriously contemplating - switching to windows - who cares what the OS is, as long as I have a machine I can trust and works well that's all far more important than having something that looks pretty and causes frustration.
