My message chime just quit working. Apple says I have to restore the 6S to an as new device and I DO NOT want to lose all my music and stuff and then have to reload it.... Anyone have any other ideas? They said they thought it WAS a software prob.

I used 6S iPhone with a 3.5mm plug/ RCA plugs into my receiver in the garage. Once I pulled the plug out of the jack, I no longer have a chime when I get a message. All other chimes and alerts and signals are fine. I have restarted etc, but Apple says I should restore it. That it is a software problem, Then I shoud re-install and NOT from a backup. They said the backup may have the glitch in it and then the problem would remain. Anyone have any experience with this type of thing.... I did clean it out with a nylon dental pick and a little clump of lint fell out, but nothing is chiming... Ideas anyone?

  • Did you make sure that the text tone is still selected in Settings>Sounds>Text Tone>Note?
  • Are you receiving notification sounds for email and other apps?
  • Did you try a forced restart? To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.
