convert .chat to .ichat (or text)?

I want to convert .chat files into .ichat files.

How can this be done? Can't find anything on this topic anywhere.

Thanks!

Probably you do not have to convert:

Open a .chat with the software you want to use, when that works:

in Finder select any .chat file, while holding the CTL key, choose "get info" and in the "OpenWith" field, select the software you want to use, then click the "Change All" field

Do the same for a .ichat file, if you don't have one, just change the extension in a .chat file to .ichat. Then do the same.

Hi,

.chat files are from very early iChat versions Circa 2004 through to about May 1st 2005 (I say About as that is the change in the files I have on my computer and it will be based on when I Updated/Upgraded rather than when it was released.)

The El Capitan version (Messages 9.x.x) cannot open .chat files

It can open .ichat files from that date onwards.

.ichat files are from iChat 3 onwards.

Logorrhea can open the .chat items.

It is an old app that will run in EL Capitan.

Whilst it will not open a file with an Open With Command it can browse your files and show you the text.

It tends to retain the original colours of the Chat.

Changing the file manually from .chat to .ichat does not work. It is still un-open-able in Messages 9.x.x)

It takes time and practice to get Logorrhea to print individual Chats.
