How can I import comments from Word document? The compatibility page https://www.apple.com/uk/mac/pages/compatibility/ suggests you can but I see nothing when I switch Comments on. I'm using Pages 5.6.1 on a MacBook Pro.

I have a 2016 Word .docx file in which I have selected text and created about 12 comments sitting in the right hand margin.
I can drag that file onto Pages 5.6.1. The selected text is highlighted in Pages and I can see the contents of the comments if I click in them.
If I select view Comments pane, I see the contents of each of the comments. You can also just click through the comments using the little feature with the left and right triangles.
You open the Word document in Pages, and then from the Toolbar View icon, you select Show Comments Pane.
I know what you're supposed to do. I'm saying that it doesn't work! I know the document I've been sent has comments because I can see them when I open it in Libre. The only problem there is that it has all of the comments strung together at all the insertion points so I'm not 100% about what is being commented on at what point! Most annoying!
Pages has never been a Word clone. LibreOffice has about 23 years of history as an actively developed MS Word replacement. That is why there is more Microsoft Word compatibility support in LibreOffice Writer, and why it will open Word documents, and display Word document content more effectively than Pages. There are times when LibreOffice Writer can open a Word document that Pages cannot.
Since I do not presently have Word installed on my Mac, I would recommend that you re-read Sparkleberry's post above on how he approaches the Word 2016 to Pages document comments issue.
Thank you all. Sorry Sparkleberry and VikingOSX but as I said before, none of that worked. LibreOffice didn't show the comments at all while OpenOffice, as stated, shows all the comments strung together each time. However, by sheer dumb luck through messing around, I discovered that by opening the Word doc in OpenOffice and then dragging the little icon on the document window header bar into Pages, it does open with the comments all correctly displayed! How bizarre is that. Many thanks for your support.
