Reset the SMC on Macbook Pro mid 2014

I try to reset the System Management Controller on my 15" Macbook Pro mid 2014.

Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

If the battery is nonremovable

1. Shut down the Mac.

2. Plug in the MagSafe or USB-C power adapter to a power source and to your Mac.

3. Using the built-in keyboard, press Shift-Control-Option on the left side of the keyboard, then press the power button at the same time.

4. Release all keys, then press the power button again to turn on your Mac

In Step 3 I press all 4 buttons (simultaneously), and consider this a while pressed. Nevertheless, the Macbook starts while.

Even if I press the 4 keys briefly (simultaneously), launches the Mac.

I suspect that the SMC has not been reset.

Did I do something wrong?

Is the MagSafe adapter connected? Are you using Shift-Control-Option on the LEFT side of the keyboard. This is important.

Why are you resetting the SMC? Is there a problem with the computer? If you are experiencing keyboard issues, then there is a chance that the keyboard is not accurately using the keys you are pressing. The computer should remain off the entire time, and the MagSafe will (usually) change colors briefly when you let go of the keys.
