Time Capsule backup disabled on Bridge mode

Hi all...

I have a 3rd generation (A1355) Time Capsule, and I connected it to a D-Link DSL-2520U router which is connected to my ADSL internet connection via PPPoE. In order to get my configuration get to work, I had to set the network setting on Bridge mode. Since then my Time Capsule backup is not working, and when I try to manually force the system to backup, it says: "The backup disk could not be found. Make sure the backup disk is connected or select a different backup disk."

When I try to set the Time Capsule to DHCP, it says: "The DHCP range you have entered conflicts with the WAN IP address of your base station."

Now, what can I do to get it to work again?

Bridge Mode is the correct setting for the Time Capsule......but you have changed the "path" that Time Machine was using to locate your Time Capsule on the network, so it cannot find the Time Capsule.

On your Mac......open System Preferences (gear icon on the dock)

Open Time Machine

Click Add or Remove Disk

Under the Backup Disks heading, click to highlight the current backup disk

Click Remove Disk at the lower right of the window

Close the windows

Restart the Mac

Then, go into Time Machine again as above, click Select Disk and click to highlight the backup disk that you want to use, then click Use Disk.

Wait a few minutes for a backup to begin, or if you don't want to wait......click the Time Machine "clock" icon at the top of the Mac's screen and click Backup Now.

Sorry Pooyak I am kind of piling on to your question but it was at the top of the list and I think you have done exactly what I am looking to do. Can I confirm how you set things up?

I have a TimeCapsule which is not quiet cutting it anymore from a range perspective - but it is functioning perfectly well for my Time Machine back ups. I plan to buy a new Airport Extreme base station and then hard wire the Time Capsule to it. It would seem that "Bridge Mode" is the way to stop it from broadcasting any wifi signal of its own? (Then follow Bob's direction to remap the Time Machine portion).

Can I still keep the extra USB devices attached to it or do they need to move to the new APE? I suppose I will find out but I am trying to get a sense of how much disruption this will cause before I go and invest in a new base station.

Again - apologies for hijacking your question but your question is so close to the same as mine.

No, Bridge Mode has nothing to do with whether the wireless is active or not.

If you want to disable the wireless on the Time Capsule, then you would need to change the setting in AirPort Utility for Network Mode from "Create a wireless network" to "Off".

Things will be simpler if you connect USB devices to the new AirPort Extreme, but you could probably connect them to the Time Capsule and then check to see whether each device is working OK.

Unfortunately, the Time Capsule is now "lost" on your network. Are you using El Capitan? This happens quite a bit with that operating system.

Power off the entire network.....all devices.....in any order that you want

Wait a minute

Start up the modem and let it run a few minutes

Start up the next device connected to the modem and let it run a full minute

Keep starting up devices one at a time the same way until the entire network is up again

Try the setup again.
