Macbook - problems to connect w external screen

I do a lot of presentations (Keynote) from Mac to external screens at events.

The new MacBook (12") is quite often having problems so I have to carry a MacBookAir as a back-up just in case.

Problems can be everything from no image at all, image with spikes and even two images (like 70% Keynote + 30% desktop).

It doesn't matter if I use HDMI or VGA. And yes, I know how to adjust resolution in settings 🙂 Sometimes the problem is fixed by adjusting the resolution manually, but then the Macbook can jump back to the resolution that doesn't work by itself during the slideshow...

I believe the problem only occurs when I have to go through a device like a split or when there is lots of tech back stage.

Anyone else having problems like this with the MacBook?

Any ideas on whats wrong and how to solve it?

MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015), OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

having the same problem. Tried everything (new cables, new adapter, even new macbook...)

same problem and it drives me nuts......@ APPLE guys, come on. You need to do something about this.

We have two new LG 4k monitors here at the office and we experience the issue that the macbook loses the resolution settings after going in to sleep mode. Very annoying ! It must be something with Sierra OS.

This means we must restart our MacBook 2016 every day and during the day multiple times to keep this resolution we need for work.

Apple support team, do you have a solution for this?

I have the same problem. I have had it since day 1 on my MacBook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015). have tried multiple monitors and multiple dongles. It's definitely the macbooks usb-c port.

Finally!

The update to 10.12.2 fixed the problem.

The external monitor is stable now.

I have the exact same problem even when the monitor is connected using usb-c. If the machine goes to sleep or if I disconnect and then reconnect the monitor, it looses resolution. Driving me crazy!

Same problem here with an OWC USB-C hub and the original apple adapter. I have to restart the MacBook to get it to work.

ANyone one with a better solution? (MacBook 12" retina early 2016)
