How do I remove the following pop-up from my iMac? "to sue"java"command-line tool you need to install JDK

I don't seem to be able to get ride of the following pop-up: "To use "java" command-line tool you need to install JDK." I have downloaded Java numerous time but the pop-up keeps reappearing. Is there a fix to get rid of this pop-up, it is driving me bonkers? Please help!

This is off topic, but I am new to the support community and don't see a way to message you. I wanted to tell you, Old Toad, that you just saved my day. I am literally cheering in my living room! I have a 3-year old time machine backup that contained my iWeb travel blog. I needed that content for a new project (as well as for the diary of those years traveling), and thanks to some help you had given others years ago, I just did some crazy Terminal and AppleScript maneuvers that were a big leap of faith for me, and it worked!
