Will iWeb work with OS 10.11?

I tried launching my iLife '08 copy of iWeb (v. 2.0) in El Capitan on my Mac Pro, and seem to be encountering problems using it from the start. I suspect that it was designed for PowerPC and isn't compatible with Intel. Is this a known issue?

Otherwise, I still have my G4 running OS 10.4.11(Tiger) and would like to use iWeb on that to build a website. I've looked around in Support help here, and see recommendations to switch to more update, commercially available (and expensive) site builders, but other sources seem to indicate iWeb is still used. I built one site with it in Tiger about 3 years ago, and it was fine (though now taken down). Would just like to know in advance, if possible that if after spending time designing the site, I can actually put it online (switching my domain name from my present Yolasite website.) As I'm fairly adept with Pages, I like working with iWeb for its similar ease and flexibility.

Thanks

Here's a screenshot of what happened when I opened iWeb and chose the "Modern Frame" template - which isn't at all what I expected (and I also had trouble entering content in text boxes, trouble with color, which was negative, and that's about when I quit!)

iWeb 08 definitely will not work and yes that is why you are having problems with it. Most people at least updated their iWeb to use iWeb 09, which is version 3, however, you maybe out of luck if you want to purchase that as it has not been sold or supported by Apple for the last 4 years or so and has not been updated for 6 years.

The only way that you can get iWed 09 is to look on Amazon and see if they have any of the old iLife 11 or iLife 09 boxed sets for sale that both contain iWed 09, however, I don't see that it is in any way sensible to spend money on an out of date product.

At some stage you are going to have to purchase some other software, as there will come a time when iWeb will not work at all, as you have already discovered with iWeb 08. There is nothing that you can do with iWeb 08 and you might have to go back to your old machine if you insist on using it.

Unfortunately, you are going to find that all new software will be of a similar price and EverWeb being priced at £79 is in no way over the top. It is a smaller learning curve too, as it is very similar to iWeb in look, feel and function.

You could take a look at Freeway Pro/Express - they sometimes have offers on that make it more affordable and I have to tell you that Freeway is more expensive than EverWeb - they did have an offer on last year, where you could get Freeway Pro for £69. Take a look.

There is also Flux 6 or WebAccapella 4 that you can take a look at, but at some stage you are going to have to bite the bullet and switch.

Nothing you can do with iWeb 08 - go back to your original computer as it won't work with anything else.
