After updating my ipad2 from iOS 9.2.1 to 9.3 over the air I cannot connect to activation server and the latest version of iTunes can't recognize to activate

Same problem. So them must know they have a problem. Why can't they fix it?

SAme problem. Itunes does not recognize device and I can't do a backup or anything. Can't get into my ipad to chat support because I don't have my serial number. Very frustrated!

U Need go onto ur iCloud account then on there go to find iPhon/iPad and turn off iPad and then restore the new update and it should work and make sure ur stuff is backed up some where too when ur ipad2 is back up

Are both ipad2's the same model. I have had the same issue with a 62G wi fi with 3G

my 32g wifi 3g ipad 2 succesfully updated ios 9.3

but my 16g wifi ipad 2 have this problem. Now i trying to do what @englishbay suggested.

AND FINALLY IT'S WORK!!

what i've done.

1. Delete ipad from icloud

2. Connect to itunes and set to recovery mode

3. Restore the ipad.

you must delete ipad from icloud first. Since i also failed at the first time to restore ipad because forgot to delete this ipad from icloud setting.

Now my ipad 2 16g wifi is working..

Serial number is on the back of the iPad.

thanks! I did as you suggested and I was able to restore my ipad2 and install 9.3 and a backup of my ipad. I had to try twice and noticed that best is to go through iTunes and ensure a LAN cable connection to the internet. So the update of the software does faster

how can I solve it

This is a known problem/glitch.

Apple, I believe, has acknowledge this issue with activation server difficulties with certain iPad models and have stated that they are working on this issue and that it will be resolved as soon as possible

This 441 month old isn't happy either!! Been completely unable to use my iPad2 all last night and all day today due to the b0rked activation issue. 😟

I'm having the exact same problem. iPad 2, 64 gig, 3G AT&T. Can't activate and iTunes can't verify it. Chat support couldn't fix it, and referred me to the Genius Bar. They couldn't fix it either.

I finally solved my problem, I went to the apple genius, the at home I plug to the I tunes to get my last update. 🙂 good luck

Usually I never do updates immediately after launching but this time it happened to iOS 9.3.

iPad tells me that updating was successfully done, only few steps to do and you we are ready again... But, finally iPad tells me that ´iPad can´t be activated due to the fact that "activation server" is off-line. Try again. If the problem continues contact with Apple Support´.

When trying to finish activation with the help of iTunes (latest version) iTunes don´t recognize my iPad. Have checked that the connection (USB) with iMac works. What to do? I understand that it might be that only activation servers are overloaded, but can we get this information and when from Apple. It would be nice if they could publish on apple.com/support pages hints what to do when all ways are closed for activation iPad2.
