Safari can't install this extension

I cannot install the LastPass extension to my Safari on iMac OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.3

My version of Safari is Version 9.0.3 (11601.4.4)

Error message: Safari can't install this extension An error occurred while installing the extension "LastPass".

I have exhausted all suggestions from LastPass support.

Apple will not let me uninstall/reinstall Safari since it is part of OS X.

I cannot locate an "Extensions" folder associated with Safari on my system. I would try and delete the folder for reconstruction by Safari, but I don't find it.

I have done my best to find a solution within these discussions.

All help is appreciated.

Won't this require a re-install of the OS since you're deleting a certificate from the OS that was installed via an OS install?

No. The certificates are downloaded as required when you visit a website. They aren't part of the OS.

Can not delete "VeriSign Class 3 Public Primary Certification Authority - G5", mac says "operation not permitted", and in my case the padlock is green, just cannot install LASTPASS extension specifically, others seem ok, like Adblock Plus, Save to Pocket, etc. So, just got stuck there. My OS X is sierra 10.12.2. Any idea, anyone?
