[solved, sort of] 10.11.4 breaks logitech unifying software...

OK, just a glitch - but now somewhat resolved. After the reboot into the 10.11.4 upgrade, the unifying software immediately came up claiming that I had TWO receivers plugged in ( only one was there, in fact ).

Also, the wireless mouse was FROZEN ( though the wireless keyboard still worked). Solved eventually by unplugging the dongle, then plugging it in again. Software still complained one more time, but at least the mouse works now... seems to have fixed itself.

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 32 gigs of RAM, i7, ATI 2GB Graphix

Yeah, this has been a recurring issue for the Logitech Control Center on El Capitan. When I, first, upgraded to 10.11, I'd plug in my mouse receiver and the unifying software would prompt me that I have multiple receivers connected when I only have one. Their solution was to, just, restart your computer; which does correct the issue. After every point upgrade, the prompt would return and I would have to restart to clear it. It seems that Logitech has been fully aware of this issue since October and have, frustratingly, done absolutely nothing to fix it. I expected to go though the same routine, once again, when I upgraded to 10.11.4, yesterday. Surprisingly, I didn't have to. My upgraded MacBook, correctly, finally recognized that I only had one receiver.

As to your second problem...no idea on that one.

OOPS! I spoke too soon... came back from lunch, to find the mouse cursor FROZEN :-(

Powering down/up the mouse (M570 Trackball, actually) accomplished nothing.

Pulled the dongle, replaced it ( in a different USB port this time) power-cycled the trackball, and its back working again... FOR NOW.

Will try your power-down the system suggestion!! (Thanks for chipping in on this thread!)

ARGH!! shut down and restarted...

now have a lovely responsive mouse cursor - over a plain grey screen.

The apple loaded... progress bar went to about 50% then this lovely relaxing grey screen loaded.

I can move the mouse around and click to my heart's content! (But nothing else happens...)

No error messages, no nothing!

THANKS, APPLE. Can you EVER get one of these "improved" OS updates right??? EVER?

Posting this from a WINDOWS machine I happen to have on the same desk... One which has NEVER crashed once in TWO YEARS - despite slews and slews of WIndows updates
