Tv shows appearing in wrong order

I stream all my tv shows/movies from my mac to my apple tv via the computers app and home sharing, since the update yesterday, all my tv shows series numbers appear in the wrong order, they finally condensed the tv shows so you dont have a seperate line for every series, which is great, but my shows are appearing like season 4, 6, 2, 3, 1, 7 etc

anybody else having this problem??

I had the exact same problem, but I was able to fix it. It is your release dates. I don't know if you are dealing with shows that you have ripped from your DVD collection or ones that you have purchased from iTunes. I'll tell you what I did to mine to fix it. In my instance, the show was Star Trek Voyager. Two of the seasons had bonus features on the DVD. When I ripped them and edited them in Subler before adding them to iTunes, I put in the original air dates for all of the episodes in all seven seasons. But since the bonus features never aired, I put their release date as the release date of the DVD set. So when I went into the Apple TV, those two seasons were at the top, because the bonus features in those seasons had a more recent release date then even the last show of the last season. I hope that makes sense. When you figure out which shows are messing you up, you can edit them in Subler, which is a free program for Windows or Mac, or you can just edit the release dates in iTunes. Let me know if this works out for you.

By the way, it only takes one episode in that season to make the entire season out of order in the season list. I made the bonus features release date the same as the last episode of the seasons.

I Am also having the same issue but I am on the original tvos9.0.1

also my Apple TV 3 when using computers would open to the first unwatched episode, this is not the case with my new Apple TV 4, it just opens to the top of the list.

now I am noticing the wrong order on several shows I am unsure why. I have deleted the shows and added them again, restarting the computer, restarting iTunes, restarting the Apple TV ... Changed from wireless to wired connection...

this is annoying I like my shows and items i have added for streaming to be in the correct order and I don't like to have to search through all items to find the episode I haven't watched, when it use to just take me to it.

so it is not just the new tvOS 9.2 it has been there since 9.0.1....

I installed the latest iTunes and OSX updates last night, restarted, and still had the same problem. I noticed my Apple TV 3 does not have this issue, so it does not seem to be a iTunes/OSX issue, although who knows.

I like the grouping functionality, should have always been that way. Just wish it put the seasons in the right order, or in the seasons at all.

Yeah, everything was so perfect when i saw they had finally grouped the series, but when i click onto the show, its like, season 7, season 3, season 1, season 4 etc etc 😟 run out of ideas on how to fix it, starting to think the only fix would be to do away with seasons and just have episode numbers, but then il have shows with like, episode 3000 etc 😟

Im ridiculously anal when it comes to these things 😁 playlist just wouldnt be the same lol, i did consider just doing away with seasons and have huge numbers of episodes but im going with the realease date thing, although its taking forever because of the 'updating tags' that we all love so much, so im just listing entire seasons by the date of the first ep of that season
