After upgrading my iPhone 5S to IOS 9.3 the eMail app will no longer connect to Gmail. It repeatedly asks for my password but fails to login when I put it in.

As suggested I deleted the gmail account. I then readded the account. iPhone took all the account information and password and looked like it worked but gmail account not showing up now.
When you are in the Mail app click Mailboxes in the top left. See if you see your Gmail account listed.
Sorry, no Gmail account listed.
I am now forced to use the Gmail app. This is clumsy as I would like all my email in one place.
I am having this same problem. In addition, I cannot log in to my Instagram. When I try to it says "The Operation couldn't be completed. (IGFoundationNetworkingErrorDomain error-1011.)"
ive had the same problem with gmail after installing ios 9.3 on iphone5
for me the solution was to disable vpn profile in settings>general>vpn

Unfortunately the problem is with more than getting gMail to work with iPhone mail client. Anything related to my Google login is broken. For example the Google News app no longer works if I log in, I have to come in as a guest.
I tried to turn off VPN but it won't stay turned off. When I move the button of "Off" it just moves back to the "On" position.
Problem fixed. It was related to the VPN installed as part of Adblock. I had to delete Adblock and then also delete its profile from within Settings.
I have a related problem. After I updated to iOS 9.3.1 I don't have to sign in to get Gmail in the Mail app but when I'm in Safari I have to sign in to Google and Google Calendar every time. This only occurs on my iPhone. I have no trouble on my iPad. Both have been updated to IOS 9.3.1. I do not use an Adblock app. I have no VPN enabled on either device. I have carefully examined the settings between the iPhone and the settings on the iPad. I deleted the Gmail account and recreated it on the iPhone but that still hasn't fixed it. I have deleted all cookies and history as well. Anyone have any other suggestions I should try?
I also have a problem since downloading iOs 9.3: in my Gmail app, new mail does not appear or refresh. I have deleted the app and downloaded it numerous times, also tried turning iPad mini power off and then on. Anyone else having this issue?
HAd this same problem as of last night, but then everything started working this morning when I tried deleting and re-adding the account (even though I had tried that multiple times with no luck yesterday).

Why use gmail anyway? Read the terms and conditions. They're totally unacceptable. It's "free" for a reason. Use email from your ISP. You're paying for it anyway. Or you can use an iCloud email address. You implicitly paid for that when you bought your Apple device.
The problem was not solved.
