time error on iphone 5c

I can set the Date & Time on my iPhone 5c to the correct time but when the screen locks it ceases to update; if I turn Set Automatically on, with Time Zone being London, it gives a completely wrong time, unrelated to the time I set manually. Many other people seem to have this problem, especially those who have kept up to date with iOS upgrades.
