iWantit wireless keyboard won't pair with iMac

I purchased a wireless keyboard yesterday. It's a brand called iWantit - but it won't pair with my iMac which runs in osx yosemite. It discovers it fine, then it'll say connected for a split second before coming up with "pairing failed" message. Also, the option to put in the pairing code only pops up for a tiny split second once every 20-30 attempts, or less often than that.

The troubleshooting steps I've tried:-

- done updates on Yosemite

- restarted iMac

- deleted anything else discoverable on imac

- turned the keyboard off and on again (it has a little off/on switch at the back)

Has anybody got any other recommendations?? Or have purchased same brand keyboard and not had the same issue??

Just like someone else, I was about to give up and go back to Currys when they said that the manual dropped out of the packaging, which said you have to press Fn and Esc at the same time to keyboard paired. The number 4 $ key lights up and the Mac detects the keyboard for pairing.

If only it said this somewhere where people who don't ever read manuals looks.!

I'd consider changing to a different brand - I just spent some time trying to find the developer/mfr site for iWantIt wanting to see the system requirements/tech specs for the keyboard - I could only find retailers and no other info. Looking at one site, that brand has a lot of what appear to be knockoff Apple items for a very cheap price, so it's probably a far east mfr.

On the packaging it says DSG Retail Ltd which is either the parent company of , or a subsidiary of Currys, where I purchased the kkeyboard, also probably the biggest electronics retailers in the uk. I will try pairing it with another user if I can but if still no outcome I think I will be contacting their customer service department.

Yes, Curry is a large outfit, but they're a retailer and so is DSG. Do they manufacture their own stuff and market it under the IWantIt brand? More likely, they buy it from some manufacturer. And, if you look at all the different things they sell: they all look like Apple things, but are obviously not - if they were, the description would start with "Apple ......", not "IWantIt".

So all the things appear to be knockoffs. I purchased a knockoff adapter for my iPad to plug in a camera SD card for about a third of the price the Apple adapter would have cost: if you jiggled it, it worked - twice. That was it. Then it was dead.
