10.11.4 Safari freeze

no freezes yet on 10.11.5. Fingers crossed. However, my freezes weren't that often anyways, but it would happen every week. Time will tell.

I experienced another freeze on my imac. This time it happened when browsing in the Steam app. I was just casually browsing the steam store when suddenly everything froze then restarted itself in a minute or two. Hopefully iTunes and Steam are the only things that caused the freezes for me. I thought 10.11.5 fixed this mess but apparently it did not. I need more testing.

I am sorry to hear that happened to you, however I think that is not the type of freeze I believe most of us here having been discussing. The freeze being discussed here is a complete system wide freeze, mouse doesn't move, and it stays that way without resetting on its own...

Definitely not fixed for me. I've managed to bring on the problem again under 10.11.5. 'Distnoted' still hogging all the processor power (390%) when I use time machine and bringing on a gradual freeze. Hope it's helped some people though.

Not fixed for me, either. My belief is that there is a problem with WebKit....not Safari itself.

The only thing that helps is not using Safari (switched to Chrome). Occasionally, some other app like Mail will make use of WebKit and I will have a freeze but it's rare. Get total system freezes all the time with Safari. Started early with 10.11.4. Never had a problem before.

I had also the problem with 10.11.4. I updated to .5 yesterday and until now, I did not experience the freeze again..only time will tell if this problem will reoccur for me...

In the meantime, should we create another discussion for 10.11.5?

I had the same issue with 10.11.4 version. Please help update this problem with 10.11.5 version.

Ugh. 21.5-inch - Mid 2010; 2.08 GHz Intel Core i3; 10.11.5 just froze. I had a lot of windows opened but still. Figures !

I have been having the same freeze problems since 10.11.4 and it always but always and only occurs while using Final Cut pro X v10.2.3.

The only other software used is Safari, other than background stuff like Sticky Password, Syncovery, Goodsync but all these were in use previous to 10.11.4 and no crashes. Safari has been used to watch tutorials but never during FCPX editing and thus has never frozen.

According to this MacRumours thread, the issue seems to be fixed in OS X 10.11.5.

However, even on 10.11.4, my system hasn't frozen in more than a week. At one point, it was freezing every one or two days. I have an early 2015 Macbook Air 13 with Intel Core i5 processor and 4 GB RAM. It seems something has changed.

I have been using 10.11.5 for a week now and I had no issues that I know of, so for me it's fixed...unless that is if it happens just after I send this 😝

I have this problem on my 11" MBA early 2014 since I can remember. The freezes weren't very frequent, but after 10.11.5 they happen almost daily.

Using a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)

Had the same exact problem for over 7 months. I tried everything from clean installs to returning to straight Yosemite. Eventually I threw a "Hail Mary" pass and got a new hardrive along with an upgrade to an 8 GB memory, so far so good. I was very desperate for a solution, and when the last El Capitan update did not work I had to do something. If this seems a bit too much of a fix consider just upgrading to the 8 GB memory, it seems to help pacify the problem with others who have just tried that.

Have had this freezing issue since around February and continues still.

I'm running 10.11.5 on iMac 21.5 3.06 GHz Core i3.

Don't see any rhythm to incidents, have had it happen surfing these Apple logs to help trouble shoot the problem!

I'm die-hard Mac and don't want to migrate to Chrome/... ; really hope Apple can get a fix out for this!
