Can't install nVidia Driver, need help.

Hi all,

I need your help, like the thread title states, I can't install the nVidia graphics driver update, and the option to choose the nVidia driver as the Mac Pro's (2010) video card driver is greyed out and the system is defaulting to the Mac driver which is not allowing me to use my GTX 980 in my Mac Pro. Right now I am using my old GT 120.

Some Specs :

2009 Mac Pro Flashed to 2010

OSX 10.11.4 El Cap

Hard Drive, Main : 480gb OWC PCIE SSD

Hard Drive, Storage : 3, 7200 RPM drives striped into 1

Hard Drive Bootcamp for Winblows : 1, 1gb OWC SSD

Video Card : EVGA nVidia GTX 980 SC (Currently using old GT 120)

RAM : 32 Gigs (All OWC)

This issue seemed to start happening at the start of the OSX update before this most recent one (!0.11.2?)

I have tired downloading other Drivers from MacVidCards Page :

http://www.macvidcards.com/drivers.html

...But none of those would install.

Here is a screenshot of the error :

And one of the unavailable state of the driver (Even after I authenticate / unlock my settings)

Not sure what to do here, any suggestions?

Thanks!

No, ok thanks. I also provided clickable links. Did you try to click on those? They should open a separate window with the images. I did both to cover my bases. I guess Apple is blocking my server? Which is strange, because I can see them.

Anyway, I tried both the Sys pane update and uninstalling the nVidia Driver and then installing it from a download. No Dice. 😟

I also tried the install with my old nV GT 120 in, and then my GTX 980 (Via VPN due to black screen) Still not working.

Thoughts?

That is a bit strange. I guess it's saying the old is incompatible, the new is available, but the 05 version might have been an interrum step I tried and screen shotted seperate from 06. Sorry if thats confusing. But it seems like its skipping a couple versions? Are there any files nVidia might have left behind I need to nuke in order for the install to take?

Armchair theory.

Hmmmm ... the current version is ...06f01, but your install error shows ...05f01. I am 99% sure you simply try to install the web driver one release number too old.

Yes, the nvidia web driver is very criticall concerning os version and release. And whenever a new version of capitan is set to freedom, i wait at least one day to install, to give nvidia time to release the new driver version. It always lags behind some hours.

Open the nvidia control, select updates, and let the control itself search and install the most current driver.

greetings from germany
