just purchased a mac book pro trying to connect mt verizone MIFI

Simple solution, talk to Verizon and get the Novatel Wireless MiFi Mode Switch Utility.

The Novatel Wireless MiFi Mode Switch Utility will automatically switch Ethernet modes on a MiFi USB620L, MiFi 6620L, or MiFi SA 2100 device to make it compatible with OS X version 10.11 (El Capitan) or above. This utility is not needed with OS X version 10.10 or below.

To install the utility, from Finder, double click on the ”Novatel Wireless MiFi Mode Switch Install" application. Administrator rights are required and you'll be prompted for the password.

If you see the error "can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developer", press and hold the "control" key and click on the application and select "Open" from the pop-up menu.

After installation is complete, simply plug in the device and it will automatically switch to the correct Ethernet mode. If a device was inserted before installing this utility, please unplug it and plug it back in.

To uninstall the utility, double-click on the ”Novatel Wireless MiFi Mode Switch Uninstall" application.

You should be able to see the Mifi stick listed on your wifi to be able to connect to it like it was any other wireless hub. Do you have the one that plugs into your USB port. Any information you can provide us would be helpful.

Did you ask Verizon why their mifi device won't connect to the Internet? Do you have a mifi data plan with Verizon?

If so, contact Verizon and ask them why it is not working.

Does the Mac see the device in the USB port?

Go to Apple menu / About This Mac / System Report.

In the lefthand column select USB. All the usb devices the computer sees will be listed on the right. If the device is not listed, either it or the usb port is defective.

Try it on another computer. The Verizon site says no software is required so I assume that there is no driver to install. Try it on another of your USB ports. Take it to a Verizon store and ask them to test it on their computer, If it still does not work ask Verizon for another stick.

go to:

System preferences > Network

if your Mi-Fi device is listed, GREAT! configure it and get surfing.

But if not, click on the [+] button under the left column and see if you can ADD this as a new Network device.

You will have to choose it off a list, and it may not have the name you expect. (what you saw listed under USB devices may be a hint).

what devices does it suggest?
