I received a new CD and promptly tried to import it to iTunes. It is so slow! It has taken two days to import 4 tracks. I called Apple Care and they said the CD was probably encrypted and there was nothing they could do... Is there a work-around here?
BTW, other CDs import just fine. This one is copyrighted 2005 and has a big FBI warning on the cover....
I'm having the same problem. I have 2 newer cd's that don't even show up in iTunes or as a CD on my desktop. My computer just spits out the CD's. Any ideas??? Anybody?
I am having the same problem, both problem cds are from Atlantic Records/Warner Music. I am still looking for a way around it, but no luck so far. Anybody?
A good way to verify whether or not these are truly copy-protected CD's is to check amazon.com's website. Amazon is usually very good about flagging copy-protected discs up front.
there are two, Back to Bedlam/James Blunt & It's time/Michael buble. Both of them have the FBI warning on them, but it just says no unauthorized copying. It doesn't indicate it is copy protected. I did go back to Amazon, and neither is described as copy protected.
By any chance is the James Blunt CD, the enhanced CD? If it is, that could very well be the problem. The following link explains why enhanced CD's may cause problems when being ripped.
Both of thoose CDs are copy protected. Take them back where you purchased them and tell the m they don't work.
Then write a letter to the artist and to the label letting them know you will not purchase their copy protected music beause you cannot use it.
Chris, where did you get your info? I rely on Amazon which is usually very good about flagging CC-CD's, neither of these are marked. The Blunt CD had an enhanced version & I know that can cause problems, but nothing was flagged for the Blunt CD as copy protected.
The James Blunt is not the enhanced version, and on both amazon and reading the very fine print, there isn't any warning (beside the FBI) that these cds are copy protected, tho clearly they are. I will try the return and letter route. Thanks for all of the input. It shouldn 't be this hard.
SMG. if you want to hear something really weird when it comes to protection issues. I bought the U218 singles CD, mostly for the 3 new songs as I had everything else. Guess what, the 3 new songs would not rip not matter what I did. They would hang up iTunes to where I had to "force quit". After posting for help in the forums, the general conclusion was that those 3 songs were protected & not the rest of the CD. It stinks, totally!
If I have problems with a CD,
usually, I can just drag them from the CD to the desktop in the Finder instead of importing via iTunes.
Then I just add to iTunes, convert to AAC and delete the originals.
