Where did my refresh button go? I don't want to use CMD-R.

No I didn't say it had a virus, I just said, my stop button, along with the refresh button is missing. Yes, the refresh button as you have shown above.
I was just saying that the stop button was convenient for those websites that have pop-ups that will not allow you to close the pop-up. These pop-up's usually go something like this:
In many cases there was a trick where you could hit the stop button while the page was loading to prevent these pop-ups from appearing, because otherwise your browser is locked up, even quitting safari, or force stopping it would not prevent it as safari would recover the previous webpages when you went to load it. Just happened me a couple weeks ago. Browser was locked up, popups would not stop. Had to disconnect from internet and reload.
But never mind all that k... I just want to know what happened to my refresh button.

If you restart Safari in Safe Mode by holding down the Shift key, no they won't. That prevents previous tabs and windows from reopening. If you stay away from the shady websites where browser hijackers like that reside, you won't have to deal with them anymore.
To fix your current issue however, try disabling all extensions you have installed, then restart Safari.
Thanks for the tip about the shift, I did not know that. Yes... shady websites indeed. Happened when I was looking for a wiring schematic on google.
I actually do not have any extensions installed. Could it be either Developer or Debug Mode?
