"Apple Push has stopped working." on Windows 7. What to do?

Whenever I start iTunes, the error: "Apple Push has stopped working" pops up. I am using Windows 7 Professional, SP1 with an 8Mbps internet connection.

I looked over at my msconfig for services and start ups:

In start ups only "iTunes" is disabled.

In services, "iPod service", "Bonjour" and "Apple Mobile Devices" is disabled.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.

The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.

Your library and device backups should be unaffected by these steps but there are links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Same experience with "Apple Push has stopped working," on Windows 7/64, when starting iTunes (latest version: 12.3.3.17).

Following tt2 instructions carefully, I removed and reinstalled iTunes -- same version which is the latest. Problem persists. I never had this problems before, with earlier versions. Might this be a problem with the new iTunes version?

Thanks!

Thanks, tt2!

It's easier to restore the drive to an earlier version than to go thru the trouble with the library. Somehow, when Windows programs fail, and they surely have over the decades, it's quite a bit simpler than having to do all this. Too bad Apple software fails so much, and is structured so poorly as to requires that much work to restore. Separating program from content should be possible.

Thanks again!
