Then whatever Acm001 had you do did not fix the problem for you.
You could try to boot from a usb installer and try to erase the drive. That way you bypass doing things from the internal recovery partition and do everything from the usb.
I actually got it by restarting it hit command R then once it booted in the utility then it enabled me to click the enable journaling feature

Try to make partition of your Hard Disk, and then select your new partition as a target disk
Can confirm. Command R at startup will also work for Mac OS Sierra.
No I do not have file vault turned on! So there must be a way to fix this!
