New 9.7 iPad Pro warped, bent, concave

Just got my brand new iPad Pro 9.7 256 gb wifi only in space grey, noticed that it is slightly warped/bent concave, I'm wondering if this is done by design to stabilize the camara bump when laying flat. Does anyone else notice the same thing? not sure if I should exchange it for another one, heavy load could have been placed on top during shipment don't see anything out of the ordinary on the box it came in, no dents or obvious damage.

My first thought was that it looked like it had been pushed in at the centre, but you would think they would use some kind of jig with a recess for the camera when putting in the display, especially if it needs some force. The camera bump might have something to do with it though seeing as the shell is otherwise so similar to the Air 2. The bump would also explain why so few people seem to be noticing this as it effectively hides the dishing and acts more like a stabiliser when laid flat on a table.

Same here, I'm from Singapore. iPad Pro 9.7" 256gb gold, also having this wrap issue. Contacted Apple and they send me another two replacement unit. All 3 units have the slight wrap. After seeing all 3 brand new units having the same issue, I decided to choose the best unit and kept it although there is a slight wrap to it.

I suspect it might be cause when they are glueing the screen to the shell and when the glue cure, it contract abit causing the shell to wrap a little.

Dont think it's a big issue since everyone is having the same issue. But it's still a excellent device, Just a minor set back. I still love it, especially the Smart Keyboard and Pencil.

If this is a widespread issue which is going unnoticed on these early units it could become a bigger problem if the bend produces enough stress in the display to cause issues that could take months to show up. Maybe most likely it won't be a problem as the bend is only slight, but who knows. I don't want to take the risk of the display failing in a few months time or when it's out of guarantee.

Even if a "guarantee" is still active on the device, with a cracked or broken screen, it's nearly always assumed that the user is at fault and that they dropped or damaged the device somehow.

If it's indeed a manufacturing issue that would cause the screen to crack on it's own at some point (due to stress on the screen), those with the bend issue should return the device immediately and not settle for anything with the least bit of tolerance deviation. If you keep the bent device and something happens to it down the line in regards to stress cracks in the screen, be prepared to be blamed for the damage that you may not even have caused.

Apple offered to send a new one, instead I went to the Apple Store. Genius bar agreed it was warped and opened a new one. It too had the same issue. Kept the original. Talked with Apple, who said that if there was an issue down the line, it could be considered accidental and would void the warranty. They suggested purchasing AppleCare+ to make sure that my warranty would be valid. Technical support agreed and suggested having a new one sent to me. Apple online store called me to set up return and told me that there was a known issue with this. They are sending a prepaid box to send it back to Apple Depot for evaluation. They will repair or replace. He said that Apple is trying to "collect" all of the warped ones and replace them with good ones. Only time will tell. They are going to keep me in the loop throughout the process. They were concerned that it would warp more or that another issue may arise and tech support would not fix it under warranty...I am, too. Either Apple knows that they have an issue or that was B.S. to appease me.

I have just got a replacement from an Apple retailer which is ok. I told them I wanted to be sure it was going to be flat this time so first they checked the stock in their warehouse which were all ok. When I asked about the stock in their stores I was told it was coming directly from the warehouse and will bypass the store. If Apple are in the process of gathering up the bent ones I guess it shouldn't take too long to replace the old stock in stores - if that's the plan.
